What is Recreational Therapist?

Recreational Therapists (RT) are allied health professionals. In Texas they are Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) and/or Texas Recreation Specialist/ Texas Certified (TRS/TXC) from the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/ Activities Certification Inc. (CTRAC). 

What education is required to become a Recreational Therapist?

Recreational Therapy certifications (CTRS, TRS/TXC) require a bachelor's degree or higher, a 560 hour internship and passing an exam.

What are the staff qualifications?

At Inclusion Therapies, our Clinical Director Robert Broadhead, earned a graduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation (Master of Science in Recreation and Leisure Services - Therapeutic Recreation: M.S.R.L.S.) from Texas State University (the only graduate Therapeutic Recreation program in the state of Texas). He is both state (TRS/TXC, #1463), and nationally certified (CTRS,  #82138). All staff therapists hold undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in the field and are nationally and/ or state certified professionals. Vocational Rehabilitation Executive Coaches have a minimum of 20+ years of business management experience, undergraduate degree(s) and at least one graduate degree (from a U.S. Regionally Accredited University or equivalent). Assistants all hold at least a bachelor's degree in an allied health field.
